Some structures may present a pathological condition which anomalies are evolving and, therefore, demand their monitoring during a certain period of time, with the aim of qualifying the criticality and/or quantifying its intensity and speed with which it develops, allowing thus assessing issues involving the urgency to intervene and the prognosis regarding its evolution.
There are several techniques for Structures Monitoring, from the simplest, such as visual inspection or crack opening control, to the most sophisticated, such as monitoring vibrations with accelerometers or topographic measurements of foundations and structure verticality.
